mayor's Message
-
The start of a new year is a time for both reflection and construction.
We look back to observe all that we have accomplished, as well as to learn from the areas we can improve.
We use this assessment of the year that was to envision the stronger future we are driven to obtain, and more importantly, to develop a plan that will get us there.
This is the process that has helped prepare me for my third term of service as the Mayor of Holmdel, and my ninth year as a member of the Township Committee.
It has shaped the goals I have set for our community and defined the steps I look forward to us taking together to create a united Holmdel.
Communication is key to our success, and we have already started working toward cleaner, clearer and more direct lines of communication between residents, township officials and the governing body. This will be achieved by introducing better technology into our daily operations, including a new cell phone application, an enhanced mass notification system and a redesigned municipal website.
Holmdel’s own branded version of SeeClickFix, a simple to use cell phone application, will empower residents to become citizen leaders by taking an active role in reporting and helping to resolve issues around town in an efficient manner.
We will be implementing CodeRED, a reliable mass notification platform that will allow township personnel and the elected officials to communicate with residents more effectively about emergency situations, severe weather warnings and community events in a timely manner.
Residents also have a redesigned website to look forward to in the spring, when we will place a more modern, community-oriented and user-friendly information center at your fingertips.
Improved communication will create a more inclusive community, one that promotes and rewards volunteerism, engagement and team work between residents, township officials and the governing body.
This collaborative effort will help us invest in our infrastructure as well as spaces that are integral to our citizens and their quality of life. You’ll begin to see one of those investments take shape soon at Cross Farm Park, where the Township will build a fitness court thanks to a $30,000 grant awarded by the National Fitness Campaign.
All of these initiatives and partnerships will help us create a united Holmdel, and I’m excited to work toward the vision with you.
Sincerely,
Mayor Eric Hinds
