This is Mayor Buontempo. As we end this week I wanted to touch base once again.
First, please be aware that there are several organized misinformation campaigns surrounding the coronavirus that are gaining traction via social media and word of mouth. It is important to disregard these rumors and get your information directly from official government sources. You can find these county, state and federal links on our website, holmdeltownship.com.
As an update, the testing center at PNC Arts Center is scheduled to open on Monday at 8am. The State Police and National Guard have been very cooperative and the service road that connects the Arts Center to Crawfords Corner Road is now closed to the public.
In terms of community outreach, we have distributed over 500 informational flyers to our neighbors and about 1000 more will be delivered over the weekend. Approximately 50 of our Neighborhood Watch Captains have been deployed throughout the community and are reaching out to residents with their name and contact information. They are also asking for yours. This is completely optional; we are simply asking as a way to keep in touch during this time. We are also calling everyone in Holmdel registered with the State’s special needs registry to check on their well being. If you know anyone that needs assistance, do not hesitate to reach out to us.
On a positive note, there is no Holmdel resident with a confirmed reported case of coronavirus.
As we move into the weekend, and you are looking for things to do, you can find both indoor and outdoor family activity suggestions online provided by our Recreation Department. Please visit our website for a list of open restaurants in town. Try to support these eateries. Next week we will be developing a list of other Holmdel businesses that are providing services through this crisis.
I wish everyone a safe and healthy weekend. Try to stay positive and most of all take care of yourself and your family. I will be in touch.
